The Coast | June Photo Journal
For me, June is the most magical time of year on the coastline. A time before the tourists arrive in hoards and before all the paths are cut and cleared for easier access. The grasses are long and billowing with seed heads, the Armeria (pink thrift) adorns the cliffs and path sides and the sky and sea reflect each other in calm, flat blue. When summer hits I tend to retreat inland to quieter places; the beaches can get quite overwhelming, packed out with parasols, wind breaks and barbecues. But June is a luxury, to be able to walk the coast path in peace and quiet, hearing the sea, watching the birds drift about in the sky and finding quiet bays to swim and watch the sunset.
